What Hati PDF signatures are
A simple electronic signature — a visual mark placed on a document. In most jurisdictions, including Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda, a simple electronic signature is admissible as evidence of intent to sign.
What they are not
Hati PDF signatures are not cryptographically advanced or qualified electronic signatures. They do not embed a digital certificate from a trust service provider. For contracts that legally require an advanced signature (some land transactions, certain government filings), use a qualified e-signature service.
